Replacing an existing signage player machine is a simple process and can be done in one of two ways:
- Use the Replace Hardware feature in FWI Cloud
or - Delete old player and install new player from scratch
The steps below will help guide you through each process. Either method will work.
Using the Replace Hardware feature in FWI Cloud:
- Install FWI Player on new machine
- Add the deployment ID to be the computer name
- Note: This Deployment ID will also need changed in Content Manager for this player to ensure a proper connection.
- Add the deployment ID to be the computer name
- Log in to FWI Cloud
- Open the Devices Module
- Navigate to the device you want to replace
- Click on the name of the device to show full screen details
- Select “Replace Hardware” from the middle column
- Enter the MAC address or Serial Number of the NEW machine that you are adding to the system.
- Click Confirm
- That should bring the new sign online and transfer the license.
Check that the process worked:
After you replace the device, you’ll want to check a few things to make sure it worked as expected.
- On the Player machine, open the Player Configuration Settings and review:
- About tab
- Ensure that it says “license activated”
- Channel tab
- Ensure the checkbox beside “Retrieve deployment from server” is checked
- Ensure the Deployment ID is set to the computer name and matches the Deployment ID for the player in Content Manager
- Expand the Connection Properties dropdown and ensure that data exists for the Hostname, Username, and Password.

Delete old sign and create new sign
Delete old sign:
- Log in to FWI Cloud
- Open the Devices Module
- Navigate to the device you want to replace
- Click on the name of the device to show full screen details
- Select “Delete Item” and confirm
- Note: This cannot be undone!
- This player device is now no longer available.
Create new sign:
- Follow the instructions for adding a new sign to the system.
