The Poppulo Harmony system provides a simplified and consistent method of managing digital signage at Penn State. The training materials below are intended to help you learn the system and serve as an introduction to using the Poppulo Harmony system. Depending on your permissions in Poppulo Harmony, you may not have access to all of these modules on your Dashboard.

Glossary of Terms – Definitions of commonly used terms/items you will encounter when working with digital signage.

Sharing Content with Other Units

Basic information for creating content to share:

• • Content Size:
    • Read the Content Design Best Practices.
  • Standard Naming Convention:
    • Name your files using the following naming convention: 
      • StartDate_EndDate_EventName_Orientation (no spaces) 
        • StartDate = MMDD – 2-digit month+2-digit day 
        • EndDate = MMDD – 2-digit month+2-digit day 
        • Orientation = a single letter (V or H) at the end to signify orientation 
      • Example: 0915_1006_StudentActivity_H.jpg

*Note for Student Organizations: Student organizations interested in running digital screen graphics can submit their design, dates, and information online via the HUB Marketing Office. Select the ‘Submit an ad now’ button and complete the form and upload. Submissions for digital signage are simultaneously considered for select publications (HUB Toilet Paper, Elevator Pitch, etc.) as space permits; digital signage space is guaranteed. Content runs on a dedicated StuOrg feed in Student Affairs buildings.

Poppulo Harmony Standard Naming Convention:

• When adding new devices to your unit in Poppulo Harmony, please use the following naming convention to help us quickly identify devices:

  • CampusCode_CollegeCode_Unit – sign location (spaces are allowed)

    • Examples:
      • UP_UE – Grange Building West
      • UP_AG_APD – APD 3
      • BD_RUB_RUBdesk – Rub Desk East
      • BR – Bistro

Poppulo Help Community:

Poppulo also provides a lot of training and support resources on their website including knowledgebase articles and webinars. You can get to this directly from within Poppulo Harmony dashboard by clicking on the Poppulo Help Community link in the bottom row. If you are asked to log in, be sure to select the “Log in with FWI Cloud” option and login using your full Penn State email.
